So, this guy running for Michigan Sec of State says "I will make it a priority to ensure transgender individuals will not be allowed to change the sex on their driver's license in any circumstance." Great priorities...guess Michigan has solved all the present problems with the economy and all. Here's the article http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2010/01/sec retary_of_state_candidate_p.html

Some people just don't get it, I guess. The comments are worth reading also.

HE even want's post-ops to have to have male driver's licences:

http:// michiganmessenger.com/33506/paul-scott-targets-transgendered -people-in-race-for-secretary-of-state

Quote:

When asked to explain how such a mandate from the Secretary of State would benefit Michigan, he said it was about "preventing people who are males genetically from dressing as a woman and going into female bathrooms."

While Scott is aware that federal courts have ruled that gender dysphoria, the medical diagnosis for transgender persons, was a disability, he said he did not think he would run afoul of discrimination laws. For the 27-year-old state representative, the issue is about biological gender.

He said his mandate would be in place even for those who had completely undergone sex reassignment surgeries.

"That's who you are. You can have cosmetic surgery or reassignment surgery but you are still that gender," he said.

I liked some of the comments that were posted....why not just do away with the gender marker on a DL???

If I were dealing the "Karma Cards" I'd have so much fun with this guy.........

One night over a romantic dinner the guy's wife says "Honey....why don't you just drop the issue..........it could get very embarrassing for our family. I guess I should have told you this a long time ago but..............." Huh?

Or maybe this:
"Son??? What are you doing wearing your sister's shoes????" Confused

Does this guy protest too much??? I think maybe he was having an affair and found out his mistress was trans.......he just wants to make sure it doesn't happen again!........and hurt HER in the process.

never mind me......ass holes bring out the worst in me.......

That means that women convicts who have had reassignment surgery would be assigned to male prisons. Of course, they would need to be segregated 24-hours a day, which would be cruel and unusual punishment.

"I think there are all kinds of implications to the privacy rights of women and children if biological males are given access to health clubs, showers, locker rooms and changing areas," Glenn said.

But the "core issue," said Glenn, "is whether the citizens of the state of Michigan can trust their government to tell the truth and not engage in delusion or mental or emotional disorders but to tell the simple truth.

"We may sympathize with a tiny minority's emotional and mental struggles, but that does not absolve the government of its responsibility to tell the truth and not falsify government records."

And there you have it. As long as we are defined as mental patients this sort of idiocy will persist.
