Last Thursday there was a rally outside the U.S. Capitol to protest pending health care legislation, featuring the kinds of things we've grown accustomed to, including large signs showing piles of bodies at Dachau with the caption "National Socialist Healthcare." It was grotesque -- and it was also ominous. For what we may be seeing is America starting to be Californiafied.

The key thing to understand about that rally is that it wasn't a fringe event. It was sponsored by the House Republican leadership -- in fact, it was officially billed as a G.O.P. press conference. Senior lawmakers were in attendance, and apparently had no problem with the tone of the proceedings.

The tea parties are more than a party politics. Many Democrats and independents are also crying for liberty. Or government has gone to be a corporate tool. No one represents my vote. Not the AARP that sends me membership cards or the AMA who cares about money more than people. Then there is the government itself that call us consumers instead of citizens. We do not have kings or tyrants. We have a government by the people. The people are going to take it back.

Interesting. In my honest opinion, as an Economist graduated from one of the best European business schools (HSE),I find similarities between the corporative, American model health care and the Europe in 1930's

This is very interesting article though that may be opinionated

http://www.banned-books.com/truth-seeker/1994archive/121_3/t s213l.html

And when we take hate christianity as a hobby horse we are pretty close to that what you call "Republican". Giggling

Just an opinion from this side of the pond.

Yes the corporate American model of health care that now is controlling people's lives is a mess. The government needs to reform it's corporate charters and capitalistic only view of it's citizens. Socialism is not the answer either. We have checks and balances in place that have been hijacked by corporate money. We need reform of government that will lead to reform of health care. We need to fix FDA, EPA, Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, Taxes, and the very system of campaign financing. The only thing the health care bills are doing is more of the same corporate model. We need the citizens to have the power over their own health care, not corporations or the government.

some of what you say Lisa I agree with , but some of what you say I dont.

Here is my take on it........

I wish they would all stfu! Laughing

The teabaggers are a bunch of corporate scoundrels who are highjacking democracy in this country with their uber rightwing drivel and fearmongering.

Glen Beck is a lying Moron.
Rush Limbaugh is a Lying moron.
Hannity is a lying moron.
Just about anything any of the three stooges say can be debunked at factcheck.org or at snopes.com

I encourage all of you to research what they say.

For my side of the story I listen to

Ed Schultz
Randy Rhoades
Tom Hartman.

Their shows are based on fact no 2nd hand soundbites that have been altered or stories that happened months ago dug out of the trash and a new spin put on them

The last election was the most disgusting thing ever on TV.

What we need more than anything in this country is Campaign Finance Reform first so that the lobbyist cannot bribe the lawmakers into doing things against the will of the country's citizens.

Well Rach the people I know who attend the tea Party groups would deny that they are astroturfing. It most likely started that way but the people involved in it now are not being used. One of them, Andy is my chiropractor and is not a dummy.

At one time I thought that was an answer. But the Supreme court allows freedom of speech I and I agree. So the answer is to forget all media propaganda and do our research by our selves. We control the corporations by what we buy. We can make them go bankrupt. We can elect a third party. But it takes knowledge and responsibility. 80% of American families did not buy or read a book last year. We need to supplement or children's education because the government has a reason to keep them dumb.
