THURSDAY'S SHOW: The High School Quarterback Who Became a Lesbian
Star quarterback, class president and an all-American guy. And then, Paul became Kimberly. Cameras follow her back to the football field to her high school reunion.

Let's discuss after the show.

You beat me to it!
Thanks Lanie!

I rarely watch Oprah.....caught it yesterday...was so overwhelmed with yesterday's emotional show that I forgot about the Kimberly story!

Looks like there's going to be some "mama drama" Rolling Eyes

Well, now that it's over, I think it is fair to say that it was an excellent piece. Mama and life partner were there to support Kimberly. From the preview, it sort of looked like "mama drama" but I don't think it really was, do you? In fact, she was able to keep the secret from ailing Dad for a year, and then to support her adult daughter when they told Dad after he was better.

My take on the show is that transitioning when you are younger rather than older can be done and leads to much satisfaction which otherwise would have been tragically lost.

What about the reunion? How do you think that went?

Would you go to your HS reunion after transition? You, DJ, I'm sure would be welcomed with open arms!!! One transwoman I know didn't go, didn't feel comfortable. One transwoman I know did go, but with trepidation. She, unfortunately has the type of personality that reacts with "What are you looking at???" (snarl). A little defensive. So, I give her credit for going. It went fine, of course.

Reunion?? HELL NO!!

Those people are OLD!!!!! Laughing

I still have good friendships with old classmates.....and I've always been active in the reunion stuff.....after each reunion you feel like..."what for????" Our (((40th))) will be in 2 years. I have mixed feelings about it.

Kimberly's reunion seemed to go well. It was nice that her team embraced her and they were all able to "connect" the past and present.

Kim mentioned something interesting; At the start of her life she DENIED that her female personae existed. When transitioning she DENIED that her old self existed....tried to bury the past. NOW?? She sees that it's all the same person and nothing has really changed.........although everything has changed.

Her classmates recognized the same thing about Kim's life that MY friends see in mine. Although we were "perfect" students we were shy and distant. NOW, we (Kimberly AND myself) are much happier, social, outgoing.......and NOT so perfect! Laughing

She had some unique family dynamics that will probably give her documentary a little more color than the interview did.

3.1 out of 5 Very Happy
