Where I come from (conservative area of Canada), Capri Pants on men is considered homosexual. Then again, so is not wearing a belt on your jeans (or any pants for that matter).

I've seen celebrities do it. But celebrities are a little different. I was just curious as to what was everyone else's opinions.

As most of you already know, I still work in boy mode. I have a pair of capris, and I really like them, and while I do care what people think, I usually don't make my decisions based on this.

Anyway, I was just curious as to what other people thought. ^_^

Capri's on a male? Never seen that. I have only seen them on females so by the rigid rules of our societies gendered expectations I would have to concur that capris on a man is gay.

Yeah, it's kinda controversial.

Above is a short article about the appearance of capris for men in Canada. O.o I was just wearing mine a few weeks ago. Maybe I should refrain for a little while. *lol* I don't care what people think.. But I don't want to be the centre of unneeded attention.

Young guys (under 30) wear them around here. They're not exactly the same as the ones women wear....they have what I call "utility embellishments" (straps, buckles, cuffs, patch pockets etc)

They actually look pretty good and I don't think anyone thinks of the guys as being gay.

I won't even wear capri's as a woman, much less as a man. I'm not going to call them gay as that could be construed as derogatory, they're just wrong.

I will be damned. I just saw a guy walk out of this restaurant wearing capris -- and it worked.

I am SUCH a dinosaur!

*folds up her capris and puts them at the bottom of the drawer*

While I completely disagree with anybody who says that guys shouldn't wear capris, I want to live my life in some form of obscurity for the next year. I don't want to draw undue attention to myself. So I am not going to wear the capris that I bough a few months ago. (Grrr. Why did I bother buying them in the first place Sad ) Mainly because, regardless of what I believe, there will always be other people's opinions like:

Quote:

and

So, in the attempt to not draw attention to myself, I'm going to refrain. Even if I think they're cool.

Izzie?

I think capris look good on women...especially SLIM women.
Not so good on a fat ass Rolling Eyes

There are very few men that can pull the look off...but when they DO, they look pretty cool.

I don't look like a woman at the moment. Sad
And they're men's capris, so I don't know if I'll ever be able to use them. Maybe far in the future. ^_^

Who knows. Just not now.

As for the SLIM part. I have no idea what I classify as. I have some seriously messed up body image issues. O.o

Yup. ^_^

Sounds about par for the course.
I do not think I have ever met a woman who was completely happy with her apearance.

That was the litmus test one of my nieces used on me when I informed my family of my plans to transition.

She and I were talking (on the phone) about make up and she asked what brand I was using and what type of clothes I had.

when I replied that I had not worn makeup or feminine clothes yet she was surprised~

"Why Not????"

"I'm too Ugly, sweetheart!!!"

"OH MY GOD!! You ARE a woman!!!!" ROTFL

Isent the shorts that boys wear now days so far below their ass that they are as long as pants would be???? I know that is the way the guys wear them here in the south......... As for capris it is something that guys dont wear down here but styles are different in the south vs the north, east, or west so its really hard to say unless you are talking in your area..............

I like the idea of capris but I prefer wearing long jeans because they rest on my shoes and make my feet look smaller. Exposing the whole foot by wearing capris seems (in my mind) to draw more attention to the lower part of the leg and the feet thereby necessitating the employment of heels or wedges in order to reduce the horizontal length of the feet. Skirts and dresses don't seem to draw as much attention to the feet as capris do, perhaps because capris often slim the legs due to being tighter. It is a ratio thing, foot size ratio to width of dress or width of skirt or width of slimmed legs and exposed ankles. In my opinion capris work best on women with small feet.

Maybe it is more of a conservative thing because here in Quebec I see guys in capri quite often. Granted they don't look like the female style ones but still.
